Vintage Report
2021 was an excellent vintage for Tuscany, rated 95 points by Robert Parker. Conditions were very favorable, resulting in high-quality wines.
Casisano Rosso di Montalcino is a superb expression made from the Sangiovese Grosso grape variety. Lively and elegant, Casisano Rosso has a round, medium body, with soft, velvety tannins that perfectly represent Montalcino's unique terroir.
The vineyards of Casisano
The Casisano winery is nestled among the tranquil Tuscan hills, surrounded by noble vineyards and majestic olive groves. It is one of the oldest estates in Montalcino and has been owned by Tommasi since 2015. Located in the southeastern part of Montalcino, near Sant'Angelo in Colle and St. Antimo Abbey, Casiano covers 22 hectares of Sangiovese Grosso vineyards. The terroir is a mosaic characterized by distinctive locations and altitudes, creating many very different climatic and ecological microzones that impart different qualities to the grapes. Sangiovese Grosso is one of Italy's most important red grape varieties, best suited for some of Italy's most prestigious fine wines. It has medium-sized, light-green leaves, a compact, medium-sized bunch, and thick, dark-purple skins with a range of tannins. The soil is rocky and rich in Galestro, a typical rock in this region, and tends to be dry and poor. The unique microclimate and the concentration of rain in spring and late autumn influence Sangiovese's growth and give the grapes a unique flavor. The precious Casisano wines refine and mature in the harmonious silence of the underground cellars. Large Slavonian oak barrels are the signature of the Tommasi family style, in the winemaking tradition and respect for achieving the perfect elegance and expressiveness of each wine. The harmonious taste of Rosso di Montalcino
This Rosso di Montalcino has a complex bouquet with fruity notes of cherries, plums, and small wild berries. The palate is harmonious, dry, and balanced, with high acidity. A delicious wine paired with pasta, white and red meat dishes, and Tuscan cheeses.Product details
