Louis Latour Givry Rouge 2023 0.375L Côte Chalonnaise, France

Louis Latour Givry Rouge 2023 0.375L is a half-bottle of red Burgundy made from Pinot Noir from the Côte Chalonnaise. Givry is one of the 5 appellations of this part of Burgundy and is primarily known for red wines with fruit, structure, and finesse. This half-bottle is ideal when you want to enjoy an elegant Pinot Noir with duck breast, oeufs en meurette, or soft cheese with 1 or 2 people.

Vineyards and region

Givry is located in the Côte Chalonnaise, south of the Côte de Beaune.

Location and origin: Givry is a village appellation within the Côte Chalonnaise. The appellation was already valued in the Middle Ages and received official AOC status in 1946.

Appellation style: Red wine accounts for about 80% of the production in Givry. The style is fruity, well-structured, and refined, with a softer side that often resembles Volnay.

Soil: The vines grow on iron-rich clay-marl. This soil gives Pinot Noir structure, depth, and a subtle earthy tension.

Vineyard and harvest: The vines are on average 25 years old, and the yield is around 45 hl per hectare. The grapes are harvested by hand.

Grape composition

This red Burgundy is made entirely from Pinot Noir.

100% Pinot Noir – Givry: Pinot Noir gives this wine its cherry fruit, fine tannins, and elegant structure. In Givry, the grape achieves a round, fruity style with sufficient freshness and grip for several years of bottle aging.

Vinification and aging

The vinification is classic for a fruit-rich, elegant red Burgundy.

Fermentation: The wine ferments traditionally in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and undergoes complete malolactic fermentation. This converts sharper malic acid into softer lactic acid, making the wine feel rounder and smoother.

Aging: The wine ages for 10–12 months in stainless steel tanks. This keeps the focus on pure fruit, freshness, and the expression of Givry's origin, without clear oak influence.

Aging potential: Louis Latour Givry Rouge 2023 can be stored for 3–5 years. With some bottle aging, the tannins soften, and the spicy and earthy notes further integrate with the cherry fruit.

Tasting notes and serving suggestions

Louis Latour Givry Rouge 2023 has a deep color with garnet red reflections. The aroma opens with sous-bois, nutmeg, cherry, and almond. The taste is ample and round, with elegant tannins, crisp cherry, and a fresh finish.

Serving temperature: Serve this Givry Rouge at 14–15 °C, so that the cherry fruit, fine tannins, and fresh structure remain beautifully balanced.

Dishes: Delicious with oeufs en meurette, duck breast, and Brillat-Savarin.
