The Sembro Ribera del Duero comes from the beautiful Bodegas del Jaro, a winery located in the Ribera del Duero region near the world-famous village of Pesquera del Duero. This magnificent winery is primarily known for its Jaros Ribera del Duero red wine, a wine that is highly regarded worldwide. They also produce a wonderful Verdejo from the Rueda region and this Sembro. The Sembro was created to achieve the opposite of the Jaros. Sembro emphasizes young fruit instead of the strength and spice of the Jaros.

The vineyards for this Tempranillo are naturally found in the Ribera del Duero. The vines used for this red wine are relatively young, contributing to the "youthful" wine the winemaker wanted to create with the Sembro. The young vines grow in peace and warmth. The falling nighttime temperatures create a good balance between warmth and coolness. When the Tempranillo grapes for this Sembro are ripe, they are harvested by hand. To preserve the beautiful young fruit, a cold maceration of three days takes place. This is followed by a short fermentation of only seven days to minimize tannins. This delicious red wine from Bodegas del Jaro is then aged for four months in French and American oak barrels for suppleness and a hint of vanilla.
