The origin, grapes and craftsmanship behind this wine.

Castello di Neive's Barbaresco Gallina originates from the Gallina cru in the municipality of Neive, one of the most highly esteemed origins within Barbaresco DOCG. What distinguishes Gallina from other Barbaresco crus? This vineyard is known for its balance between structure and refinement, where Nebbiolo combines power with aromatic precision. Its location and soil composition result in wines with depth and clear aging potential.

This Barbaresco is made entirely from Nebbiolo and complies with the regulations of the Barbaresco DOCG.

Gallina is located in Neive and is among the appellation's historic vineyards.

  • Municipality of Neive, Barbaresco DOCG: core area within the Langhe.

  • Favorable exposition: optimal sun exposure for full ripening of Nebbiolo.

  • Calcareous marl soils: impart structure, minerality, and refinement.

  • Recognized cru within Barbaresco: known for balanced and elegant style.

The combination of soil and location yields Nebbiolo with a distinct tannin structure and aromatic layering.

Nebbiolo – Gallina, Neive
Nebbiolo is a late-ripening grape from Piedmont with high acidity and firm tannins. These characteristics ensure long aging potential and pronounced complexity in the bottle.

Vinification takes place with controlled fermentation to achieve optimal extraction of color and structure. Subsequently, the wine matures for an extended period in wood, in accordance with Barbaresco DOCG regulations, which refines the tannins and gives the wine extra depth.

In the glass, the Barbaresco Gallina displays a garnet red color with evolution as the wine ages. Typical aromas include red fruit, floral notes such as rose, spices, and subtle earthy nuances. Thanks to the combination of acidity and tannins, this wine possesses clear aging potential and continues to develop in complexity over several years.

Serve around 16–18 °C to optimally experience the balance between structure and aromatic finesse.

Castello di Neive is located in the historic village of Neive, in the heart of the Langhe. The estate manages vineyards in renowned crus such as Santo Stefano and Gallina and focuses on producing distinctive Barbaresco wines that clearly reflect their origin. By combining tradition and modern winemaking techniques, the winery preserves the identity of Nebbiolo from Neive.
