A creamy texture and the scent of ripe peach make this South of France white wine immediately inviting. Dumanet Grande Réserve Chardonnay showcases the fuller side of the Languedoc, with a clear emphasis on oak aging and a soft, buttery taste. Within the Dumanet Chardonnay range, the Grande Réserve receives the most pronounced oak influence. This gives it a distinct character, in which the ripe fruit and warm accents complement each other. Pour it into a large glass and give it some time: this allows its various aromas to emerge beautifully.
The South of France origin lays the foundation for its ripe style.
- Location / origin: The vineyards are situated at the foot of the Séranne and Mont Baudille, in the heart of the Languedoc. This white wine carries the IGP Pays d’Oc designation of origin.
- Climate: The warm, sunny growing season helps the grapes ripen. These conditions suit the full fruit expression that characterizes the Grande Réserve.
The soft structure is created by the combination of malolactic fermentation and oak aging.
- Fermentation: Alcoholic fermentation is followed by malolactic conversion. This process transforms sharper malic acid into milder lactic acid, which rounds out the wine and contributes to the buttery tone.
- Maturation: The wine is then aged in oak for several months. This maturation adds vanilla and extra depth of flavor, aligning with its full mouthfeel.
The grape character provides plenty of room for a rich development in the cellar.
- Chardonnay – Pays d’Oc: Chardonnay forms the basis of this white wine. The ripe stone fruit pairs well with the creamy texture and the influence of the oak.
