For the 2022 vintage, grapes are sourced from various parts of the Barossa.
- Location / origin: 85.4% comes from the Barossa Valley and 14.6% from the Eden Valley, both within the Barossa in South Australia, Australia.
- Vineyards: The vines for this harvest ranged from 10 to 142 years old.
- Soil: The plots feature diverse soils, ranging from sand and red clay to loam and weathered granite.
Extended oak aging gives the ripe fruit additional depth.
- Oak aging: The wine matures for 24 months in oak: 11% new American, 5% new French, and 84% previously used American and French barrels. This allows oak influence and fruit to come together.
- Finishing: Langmeil works with minimal filtration and without fining, a treatment used to remove suspended particles from the wine.
One grape variety forms the foundation of this powerful style.
- 100% Shiraz – Barossa: Provides dark fruit, spice, and the firm structure associated with this red wine.
