A Bordeaux wine from California

Ben Pon's love of wine stems from the delicious, classic Bordeaux wines. He wanted to instill this same style in his winery. After a long search, he stumbled upon a beautiful estate in Carmel Valley, just south of the bustling metropolis of San Francisco. This region proved ideally suited to several classic Bordeaux grape varieties. The Bernardus estate spans a whopping 220 hectares, less than a quarter of which is planted with premium grapes. The area also boasts the signature grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. Together, thanks in part to the talented winemaker Dean Dekorth, they create the iconic Bernardus Marinus wine.
