Buy or order Cruz de Castillo wine

Cruz del Castillo is better known for its long-standing pioneering spirit. Their wines seek a balance between modern winemaking techniques and ancient Spanish wine traditions. The winery traces its origins back to 1850, when the family acquired several vineyards in the Rioja region after a long search. These wines are still produced today, including Crianza, Reserva, and Blanco. Today, the fifth generation is at the helm of this fine Spanish winery. This generation has brought a wealth of new expertise and inherited much of its knowledge from their father. Significant investments have been made, including a completely renovated winery equipped with all the latest technologies. Yet, Cruz del Castillo continues to maintain its ancient traditions, a fact that is evident in their red and white wines.

Cruz del Castillo is better known for its long-standing pioneering spirit. Their wines seek a balance between modern winemaking techniques and ancient Spanish wine traditions. Significant investments have been made, including a completely renovated winery equipped with all the latest technologies. Yet, Cruz del Castillo continues to maintain its ancient traditions, a fact that is evident in their red and white wines.

The expansion of Cruz del Castillo

Over the years, the Cruz del Castillo family continued to develop a passion for producing a wider variety of wines. After all, they possess a wealth of knowledge and experience. So, they purchased a beautiful vineyard near Valencia in the Utiel Requena region, where they still produce the exquisite wines under the El Aritza label today. They've added a red and a white, as well as a very nice rosé, to their range. The El Aritza line owes its name to Francesco Jr., who has been walking the vineyards since he was a child. He was inspired by the "mighty trees" surrounding the vineyards. These trees still surround the vineyards today, creating a unique climate.

Rueda Luna Verde Verdejo indispensable

The Rueda wine region enjoyed great success in the 1980s. Cruz del Castillo saw his opportunity and purchased a unique vineyard high on the mountain. The altitude was crucial for the Verdejo grape, and soon a new star was born: Luna Verde Rueda Verdejo. Because the grapes are harvested in the light of the moon, a moon is depicted on the label. It also owes its name, Luna Verde, to this. And they should be proud of it all, as this is a true gem from the Rueda region.

To the ocean in Rias Baixas

One of Cruz del Castillo's latest acquisitions is the winery in Rías Baixas on the Galician coast. They purchased a vineyard in the heart of Rías Baixas, filled with the pride of this region: the Albariño grape. This grape produces some of the finest wines on this side of Spain. It's the go-to wine for seafood in Spain, imparting a unique aroma and flavor. Albariño receives ample sunshine but also a tremendous amount of freshness from the ocean breeze. This creates a unique slice of Spain found only in the Galician region. The vineyard is quite old and draws significant nutrients from the rich soil structure, all of which we can taste in its full flavor. A white wine full of terroir and finesse.

The cava Vina Xalbador

As a final acquisition, the family went looking for a vineyard in Penedès to produce cava. They founded the Viña Xalbador winery, and it proved to be a bull's-eye. The result is a very ripe and smooth cava that is now widely enjoyed in Spain. The vineyards in Penedès are in excellent condition. They are filled with Macabeo, Parellada, and Xarel lo grapes, which complement each other perfectly in this cava. The climate is somewhat cooler because the vineyards are situated at a higher altitude, which ensures plenty of coolness during the growing season, a characteristic that is reflected in the fresh flavor.
