This white wine, Con Ella, is from the Cruz de Castillo winery. And of course, this will ring a bell with wine connoisseurs, as the Cruz de Castillo family has become renowned for its quality wines. In 1850, the winery began producing red wines in the Rioja region, later expanding to wine regions such as Rías Baixas. Their expertise had grown so extensive that the winery acquired several vineyards, including those on the west coast of Spain. Today, the fifth generation is at the helm of this Spanish winery. Franseco Jr. learned the trade from his father and uses modern winemaking techniques to create a magnificent wine from the Albariño grape. While preserving Spanish traditions, Franseco Jr. creates a wine that travels the world as a "unique Albariño."
The old vineyard near the ocean
The old vineyard in the Rías Baixas wine region is located near the ocean. The vines are just barely touching the sea, which influences the wine's flavor and aroma. The Albariño receives plenty of sunshine but also a tremendous amount of freshness from the ocean breeze. This creates a unique slice of Spain found only in the Galician region. The vineyard is quite old and can draw a lot of nourishment from the rich soil structure, all of which we taste in the wine. As soon as the bottle is opened, we can already smell the influences of the sea, as it imparts a mineral note with plenty of lemon. In the glass, this Albariño is a light yellow with a delicate green shimmer. It bursts out of the glass, immediately bringing to mind the sea breeze, a touch of salt, and a dose of fresh citrus fruit. Swirl the glass well, and we also smell green herbs, grapefruit, and a hint of minerality. On the palate, this white wine is very full-bodied and aromatic, with a fresh attack of citrus fruit that later transforms into daisies and white roses. The refreshing finish completes the picture, making this wine the perfect pairing with shellfish.Product details
