Vintage Report
The 2021 vintage in Veneto is outstanding with a score of 94 points. The wines are currently still tannic and youthful, indicating excellent aging potential.
What a superb wine, and the international wine press has certainly noticed, as this red De Stefani Soler has already won numerous awards. It has already received 91 Luca Maroni points, 91 James Suckling points, and 91 Veronelli points. The Solèr De Stefani is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere Refosco, and Marzeminom grapes. The word "Solèr" comes from the Venetian dialect and means the top floor of a country house; a loft. Historically, winemakers used Solèr to dry their best grapes, as it enjoys good ventilation and low humidity. These are the requirements for proper drying of the grapes.
The different vineyards for this red Solèr
The Marzemino grapes are grown at the Colvendrame farm in Refrontolo, on the hills between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, north of Treviso and Venice. The Refosco, Carmenere, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are grown at the Le Roncheo farm in Fossalta di Piave, northeast of Venice. Both vineyards are considered very golden and have been planted in the rich soil since 1986. The climate is perfect, with abundant sunshine and cool breezes ensuring a calm and balanced growing season. At perfect ripeness, they are harvested by hand and subject to a rigorous selection process.Wood aging for the De Stefani Soler
After pressing, this red Solèr wine is aged in oak for a full twelve months in the De Stefani cellars. This is a crucial period to balance all the beautiful aromas and flavors. But the winemaker believes that even after oak aging, this red wine is not yet sufficient, and he gives it another twelve months of bottle aging in the cellar. Only when the wine is in top condition is it ready for sale, and we can enjoy this beautiful, ripe Italian juice. The Solèr De Stefani has a deep ruby red color. The aroma offers intense notes of ripe fruit, plums, and nuts. The palate is full-bodied and richly structured. Delicious notes of ripe red fruit alternate with the strength and fullness of nuts. The silky tannins make this wine a complex yet highly enjoyable glass.Product details
