The Aglianico is a unique grape variety. It produces exceptional, characterful wines. It has a long history in Italy, dating back to several centuries before Christ. It originates in Greece and was likely brought to southern Italy by the Phoenicians. It is known for the famous Aglianico del Vulture, but it also thrives in the slightly more northerly region of Molise. The grapes come from beautiful vineyards with a southeastern, warm location, planted in 1968. To achieve optimal ripeness, the Aglianico cannot be harvested until October. The grapes are then beautifully aromatic, resulting in a powerful and characterful wine.
