The best wine from Donnafugata
Loosely translated, "Mille e una Notte" means "a thousand and one nights." It's the famous Middle Eastern fairy tale. The Donnafugata winery is located in Marsala, in southwestern Sicily, near Africa. The vineyards are situated in the Contessa Entellina region at an altitude of between two and six hundred meters. The soil is chalky clay, rich in potassium, magnesium, iron, and zinc, among other minerals. The winery consistently uses unique and special labels for its wines. The palace on the label of this red wine is Palazzo Filangeri di Cutò, where Queen Maria Carolina fled to Naples. Co-owner Gabriella captured the image and used it as the label for the Mille e una Notte. A tribute to the masterpiece of Eastern literature that can tell a thousand and one stories.Full and very powerful this Donnafugata Mille e una Notte
The grapes are harvested by hand, with only the finest grapes being selected. Harvest usually takes place in early September, starting with the Nero d'Avola grapes and finishing with the Pititi Verdot. After harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed. For two weeks, the grapes ferment on their skins in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 28-30 degrees Celsius. The wine then matures for fourteen months in French oak barrels. After this, the wine is bottled and remains in the bottle for at least another 36 months in the Donnafugata cellars for further development. Consequently, the aroma of this Mille e una Notte reveals numerous hints of black fruit, tobacco, chocolate, and laurel. The flavor is so full and thick, it's unprecedented! Notes of cedar, spices, tobacco, and much, much more!Product details
