For Thomas Hensel, founder of Weingut Hensel, winemaking has always been in his blood. His ancestors owned a winery in Germany as far back as the 17th century. In 1990, Thomas Hensel decided to establish his own winery. At the time, he was still in the final year of his wine studies. In three decades, Weingut Hensel has become a leader, not only in the Palatinate wine region but throughout Germany. Hensel wines are particularly popular in the gastronomy sector, but consumers can also thoroughly enjoy the exquisite wines of Weingut Hensel.

The Spatburgunder grape

This grape is particularly well-known for the high-quality wines produced in the Palatinate wine region. Spätburgunder is the German name for the well-known Pinot Noir. The Pinot Noir grape thrives in Germany's climate, which is why it is abundantly planted in the Palatinate. In the powerful Palatinate wine region, southwest of Frankfurt, Weingut Hensel also has several Spätburgunder vineyards. In good years, Spätburgunder can create top-quality wines that rival red Burgundies. The Hensel Spätburgunder is aged in stainless steel tanks to emphasize its fresh character. A small portion is aged in oak barrels to give the wine the necessary depth.

Nuances in the Hensel Spätburgunder

Pinot Noir lovers can indulge themselves with Hensel Spätburgunder. A beautiful glass of wine, where you can clearly taste the elegance of German winemaker Thomas Hensel. Flavorful, smooth, and refined. The aroma is legendary. A magnificent bouquet unfolds on your nose. Juicy cherries, wild strawberries, and subtle oak notes. Just smelling Hensel Spätburgunder will make you thirsty. In Mont, the red wine unfolds into a TOP wine. Yes, you read that right: in capital letters. Juicy, rich, and fruity, exactly what you would expect from a Spätburgunder. A refined peppery finish completes the wine.
