What a magnificent red wine this Californian is, made from 82 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, the remainder supplemented with Cabernet Franc. Murphy Goode has owned the old vines for over thirty years, and they produce beautiful bunches. Because winemaker David Ready Jr. dedicates considerable time to the vineyard, the result is a pure and complex wine.

In 1985, friends Tim Murphy, Dale Goode, and Dave Ready decided to join forces, thus establishing Murphy Goode. The winery is located in the Alexander Valley in northern Sanoma County. Today, it is part of the Jackson Family Wines Collection. In the United States, the winery is known for its straightforward, award-winning wines and its relaxed, unpretentious style. The winery is still run by the same family. Tim Murphy's three sons manage the business, and Dave Ready's sons are responsible for winemaking. The vineyards are situated close to the banks of the Russian River. The mist along the riverbank keeps the fruit cool and helps develop beautiful aromas.

The oak aging enhances the palate with a fuller and more powerful flavor, revealing many beautiful nuances of cherry, blackberry, and forest. The back of the palate reveals more distinctive flavors such as cocoa, pepper, toasted oak, and a hint of almond.
