Schloss Johannisberg in the Rheingau is undoubtedly Germany's most prestigious winery and world-renowned for its Rieslings. It is the oldest Riesling winery in the world, having been producing wine since 817 and producing 100% Riesling since 1720. Centrally located in the region, the estate boasts a rich history. Originally a monastery, it later became a castle. It was even once owned by the Dutch Royal Family. The wines are among the most elegant in the Rheingau region and gain in balance and suppleness with age. Since 1748, a few bottles have been stored in the magnificent wine cellar, creating a unique collection. Every 25 years, the wines are tasted and corked. And, it is assured, even the oldest white wines are still very drinkable!
