The aroma reveals true Shiraz aromas of black fruit, rosemary, thyme, a touch of black pepper, earthiness, and even a hint of smoke. The taste is superb! Full-bodied, spicy, yet definitely rounded. Beautiful nuances of ripe black fruit interspersed with spicy notes, dominated by black pepper. The finish is rich with spice, vanilla, and light oak with a smooth finish. A truly exceptional wine for this price range!

Shiraz grapes are incredibly popular in South Africa. It's no wonder, then, that winemaker Frans Smit managed to create a beautiful wine from them. The Signature Collection was developed to create a global signature for Spier wines. And we think he's certainly succeeded. This Spier Shiraz is a signature in itself. We choose this wine time and time again at blind tastings! Because it's so good, of course! Founder Arnout Janz never imagined that Spier wines would become such a huge success.It started for Spier in the year 1692
This Arnout Janz was a German colonist when he purchased the current Spier Estate land in 1692. His goal was to produce wine there. At the time, the South African winemaking industry was booming, and he wanted to join in the fun. After a long search, he found an old, vacant riverbed. The soil was supposedly very fertile, so he decided to expand his estate there. Today, much remains from that era. The 21 buildings on the estate date back to the early days. The winery has since been significantly modernized, making it one of the most modern in the area. Enough expertise and equipment to produce prestigious wines!
