Weingut Köbelin is a true family business that has been in business for three generations. In 1957, Albert Köbelin took over the beautiful winery from his father. Albert had a son who spent his childhood in the vineyards. By the age of 16, Arndt Köbelin had already worked at several renowned wineries worldwide and, together with his wife, took over the helm of the family business in 2005. Today, the winery has grown into a magnificent estate known worldwide for its pure wines. The building that houses the winery was recently built, with a strong focus on nature and the essence of winemaking. Many components used in winemaking have been incorporated into the building, such as glass, oak, and stainless steel. From the winery, a 360-degree view provides an overview of the vineyards and a view of the Black Forest, one of Germany's most beautiful nature reserves.
German white wine, what a winner!
The vineyards for this Grauer Burgunder are located at an altitude of between 200 and 350 meters in the eastern part of the Kaiserstuhl, an area near the beautiful city of Freiburg. This beautiful region, surrounded by the Black Forest, is one of the warmest in Germany, allowing the grapes to grow carefree. The Kaiserstuhl is an ancient volcano, resulting in volcanic soil. This certainly enhances the flavor of this white wine. When the grapes have reached the right ripeness, they are harvested entirely by hand. According to Arndt Köbelin, only the best grapes are good enough. Both vinification and aging take place in stainless steel vats to preserve the wine's natural freshness. The taste of the Grauer Burgunder from Köbelin
Although German wines, especially Mosel wines, don't have a very positive image among most wine drinkers, a growing number of top wines are being produced. The beautiful Weingut Köbelin is a prime example. We are therefore very curious about the taste of this white wine. Pouring it, we see a beautiful golden yellow wine with a pure sparkle. The aroma reveals a rich bouquet of white and yellow fruit and pleasant acidity. Upon tasting, we perceive a pleasant structure. On the palate, beautiful nuances of stone fruit and exotic fruit, and a hint of citrus at the back, making the wine perfectly balanced. What a beautiful, pure white wine!Product details
