Markus Monitor is located in Wehlener Klosterberg. This small village is situated directly on the Moselle River, which meanders through the German landscape. Approximately 100 kilometers southwest of Koblenz, Markus Molitor has been making superb wines for eight generations. The current owner, also coincidentally named Markus Molitor, aims to showcase the power of the Moselle to the general public with his wines: they produce more than just sweet white wine. Markus Molitor's wines demonstrate the great potential of the German Moselle in winemaking.

The Riesling of Markus Molitor

In Markus Molitor's vineyards, one grape variety clearly dominates: Riesling. This beloved grape occupies a whopping 94% of the vineyard area. It's no wonder, then, that Markus Molitor's Riesling wine is a flagship product. Whether you choose the standard Markus Molitor Haus Klosterberg Riesling Trocken or the Markus Molitor Alte Reden Riesling Trocken, you can't go wrong with these wines. The remaining 6% of the vineyard area is occupied by Weissburgunder and Spatburgunder: the German equivalents of Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir.

Our oenologists are very enthusiastic about the Markus Molitor wine. However, there are others who praise Markus Molitor wines. For example, Harold Hamersma gave the Markus Molitor Alte Reden Riesling Trocken an 8.5 in his wine guide "De Grote Hamersma." The Markus Molitor Haus Klosterberg Pinot Noir even received a 9! The winery's top cuvée, the Markus Molitor Urziger Wurzgarten Auslese 2013, received a massive 100 points from the world's most renowned wine critic, Robert Parker.
