Vintage Report
The 2022 vintage for white wines from Burgenland is rated by Robert Parker with an excellent score of 92-95 points. The wines are described as high quality but still youthful, with good potential for further aging.
A delicious Gruner Veltliner, just as it should be. This white wine from the Nittnaus estate has a refreshing and lively character, developed beautifully thanks to Austria's perfect climate.
The fresh style of Nittnaus
The Nittnaus winery, located in Gols, Austria's largest wine-growing region, boasts a rich history of over 300 years of family vineyard ownership. Since 1986, the youngest generation of the Nittnaus brothers has been at the helm, and they have clearly divided the responsibilities within the company. The style of Nittnaus wines can generally be described as fresh, fruity, and beautifully balanced. This means the wines have a lively freshness, with the fruity character clearly emerging, and all elements in the wine are beautifully balanced. The Nittnaus Prestige Kreuzkapelle Gruner Veltliner comes from a special vineyard called "Kreuzkapelle." What makes this wine unique is the specific cool microclimate of this vineyard. The cool climate allows the grapes to ripen more slowly and gradually. This allows the grapes to retain their freshness and fruity aromas while simultaneously maintaining the characteristic elegance of a Grüner Veltliner, without becoming heavy and alcoholic. The grapes for this wine are harvested by hand with care and attention. Manual harvesting allows the winemaker to select only the finest and ripest grapes, which benefits the quality of the final wine. After harvesting, the grape juice undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for another 3 to 4 months in acacia barrels. This gives the wine slightly more nutty notes and a pleasant texture. The fruity aromas of Nittnaus Prestige Kreuzkapelle Gruner Veltliner
The Nittnaus Prestige Kreuzkapelle Gruner Veltliner is an inviting and delightful wine with a rich flavor experience. Upon pouring, the delicious aromas of gooseberries, grapefruit, and peach emerge immediately, creating a refreshing and lively impression. The first sip immediately reveals a creamy mouthfeel. The fine, soft acidity creates a perfect balance and lends the wine a pleasant freshness without being overpowering. The sweetness of the ripe fruit subtly emerges, creating an appealing complexity in the delicate, long finish.Product details
