Vintage Report
Warm days and cool nights in the Luberon were very conducive to the ripening process of the grapes in 2024. This resulted in a wine with a powerful yet elegant character and excellent fruit concentration.
The Val Joanis winery is a jack of all trades. They make diverse wines from different grape varieties and beautifully capture the influences of the Rhône and Provence. This Viognier Reserve is no exception. A tropical wine with fruity aromas and a fresh taste.
The vinification process of Val Joanis Viognier Reserve
In the mountainous Luberon region, Château Val Joanis boasts beautiful vineyards. The vineyards are situated on clayey limestone, which gives the wines a unique character. The grapes enjoy warm days and cool nights, which is very beneficial for the aging process. This gives this red wine a powerful, elegant character with abundant fruit. It's often questioned whether Luberon belongs to the Rhône or Provence. It's located 20 kilometers north of Aix-en-Provence, but the area officially belongs to the southern Rhône. Either way, you can expect influences from both. Made from 100 percent Viognier. When the grapes are fully ripe, they are carefully harvested and brought to the winery. Before pressing, the grapes are macerated to further develop their flavors. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Finally, the wine is aged on the lees for 8 to 10 weeks, giving it a complex character. The aroma and taste of Val Joanis Viognier Reserve
The result is impressive. A light yellow wine with golden reflections. The aroma is delightfully tropical, with floral notes and ripe fruit like nectarine, mango, and apricot. The taste is equally exceptional. Full and creamy without being overly heavy. The aromas are also clearly evident in the palate, imparting a wonderful freshness. A delicious wine with an Indian curry or wonderful on a balmy summer evening.Product details
