12 th Mezzo Malvasia Bianca White

Following the success of the red wines from the 12 e Mezzo series, winemaker Cosimo Varvaglione has created a white wine. Just like with the red wines, the name of the white wine also refers to the alcohol content, namely twelve and a half percent. This white wine is named after it, as 12 e Mezzo means twelve and a half. This is unique in the Salento region, as wines from Puglia often have enormous alcohol percentages.

The white Malvasia grape

For this white 12 e Mezzo, Cosimo Varvaglione uses the Malvasia grape. It tolerates drought and hot summers well, which is essential in the warm Salento region. The vines are perfectly positioned to face the sun and receive plenty of freshness from the Mediterranean Sea. The sea breeze cools the Malvasia grapes and maintains their freshness. The grapes are harvested early in the season and rigorously selected, followed by 300 hours of aging in steel vats. The beautiful white 12 e Mezzo is born.

What does the white 12 e Mezzo Malvasia taste like?

It's a celebration from start to finish, as the moment the cap is opened, you're met with a beautiful, fresh aroma. This aroma reveals ripe nuances of tropical fruit, flowers, fresh lime, and a touch of green herbs like mint. The palate is mildly dry, perfectly balanced, naturally reflecting the 12th Mezzo percentage. A slightly exotic flavor with a swarm of flowers, ripe tropical fruit, and a touch of spice completes this white wine.

What do we eat with a 12 e Mezzo Malvasia?

Thanks to its mildness and refreshing qualities, this white wine pairs well with a wide variety of dishes. But it's absolutely fantastic with various grilled and fried fish dishes, seafood, and soft cheeses. And don't forget that this wine is a true crowd-pleaser and can be served at any party.
