Allegrini Valpolicella Classico DOC
Since the 16th century, Allegrini has been among the absolute top wines of the Valpolicella region. Their Valpolicella Classico is living proof of how vibrant, juicy, and characterful this classic appellation can be. Not a heavy style, but a fresh red wine that perfectly expresses the unique terroir of the hills surrounding Fumane.
Vineyards and region
The grapes come from vineyards in the Valpolicella Classico zone, including the Monte dei Galli hills. This vineyard is situated at an altitude of 200 meters, with a southeasterly exposure and soils rich in clay and limestone. This produces grapes with a beautiful balance of freshness and structure. Thanks to the hilly terrain and continuous microclimate monitoring, Allegrini consistently achieves an exceptionally healthy harvest, despite a warm and irregular growing season.
Vinification and maturation
After being hand-harvested in late September, the grapes undergo nine days of fermentation in stainless steel tanks at temperatures between 25 and 31°C. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in stainless steel, after which the wine rests until February. The wine then matures in the bottle for at least another two months. No oak is used to fully preserve the pure fruit character of the Corvina and Rondinella grapes.
Grape composition
Corvina Veronese – Monte dei Galli
70% of the blend. Delivers floral notes, elegance, and juicy cherry.
Rondinella – Monte dei Galli
30% . Rondinella provides extra fruit, softness, and structure.
Tasting notes and serving suggestions
In the glass, it sparkles ruby red with aromas of cherries, wild strawberries, and a hint of violet. The palate is fresh and supple, with soft tannins, lively acidity, and a light spiciness. Perfect with veal, pasta with tomato sauce, or antipasti. Serve between 14–16°C.
