This white wine, the Andarín Viura, is from the renowned Dominio de Punctum winery. While only operating since 2005, the winery already boasts a remarkable reputation. Over the years, the winery has sought out new grape varieties from the best locations in Spain. They produce modern wines using all the latest techniques while preserving traditional Spanish winemaking traditions. The winery's name is derived from the intersection connecting the cities of Cuenca, Ciudad Real, and Albacete. But what makes Dominio de Punctum most proud is that it is the most awarded organic winery in Spain.
The old Viura vineyard in Yecla
Only Viura grapes are grown for this white Andarin wine. This vineyard is located in the Murcia region, specifically in the municipality of Yecla. The south-facing plots of Viura grapes receive plenty of sunshine. They ripen very easily, a process naturally slowed by the wind that blows through the vineyards. The wind from Alicante refreshes the harvest and contributes to the wine's fresh taste and aroma.
This Andarin Viura is wonderfully fresh
Upon opening the wine, we already smell a fresh bouquet of green apple and lime. This is intensified upon pouring, after which we see a beautiful pale yellow color. Holding the glass up to the light reveals a green shimmer that makes everything very appealing. With our nose to the glass, we smell nuances of mango, apple, and lemon peel. On the palate, it has a lovely tingle with plenty of white fruit such as green apple, pear, and citrus. On the back of the tongue, this Andarin Viura has a lovely interplay between the fruit and green herbs like mint.
