The Italian wines of Cantine Paradiso

This fairy tale begins in the 1950s. After the Second World War, southern Italy, in particular, was in dire straits. Many farmers, including Angelo Paradiso, decided to transition to viticulture. In 1954, he founded the self-named winery. Currently, the third generation is at the helm, and the finest local grape varieties are still found in the vineyards. Besides all-rounders like Negroamaro and Primitivo, Cantine Paradiso also boasts the vibrant Nero di Troia, not entirely coincidentally the base for this Angelo Primo Paradiso.

The Nero di Troia from the Puglian vineyards of Cantine Paradiso are perhaps the finest in all of Puglia. Perfectly situated in the village of Cerignola, they create a wonderful growing climate. After the harvest in early October, the characteristic vinification process begins. After pressing, the wine is first conditioned in stainless steel, after which the juice is aged for 12 months in oak barrels. This gives Angelo Primo Paradiso a bursting aroma. Think ripe cherry fruit, red berries, robust cocoa, and fresh coffee. A remarkably concentrated and thick palate tantalizes your taste buds. No slouch, but a strong, robust, and powerful wine that deserves a proper sit-down.
