The grapes for Banfi Centine Toscana Chardonnay Vermentino come from vineyards in the southern regions of Tuscany. The wine is composed of approximately 60% Chardonnay and approximately 40% Vermentino. The vines are deeply rooted in the clay and slightly chalky soil, allowing the grapes to develop unique characteristics. The wine ferments in temperature-controlled steel tanks and rests for approximately two months before bottling. The result is a fresh, fruity wine with a smooth finish.
Tradition and quality
Banfi is located in the south of Montalcino. This wine-growing region is unique in the world for its tradition and quality. The centuries-old estate covers 2,830 hectares, 850 of which are planted with vines. The wine cellar houses no fewer than 300 stainless steel tanks and the latest technology. The cellars house some 2,000 barrique barrels and large Slovenian oak casks used for Brunello. Today, the third generation is at the helm of this family business. The quest for perfection remains their mantra, with tradition always at the forefront.
The Chardonnay and Vermentino grapes are selectively harvested. In the cellar, the grapes are gently pressed, followed by fermentation for approximately 16 days. During this time, some of the must is stored in special thermal containers and some in wooden barrels at a very low temperature. The blend is then aged on the fine lees, after which the wine is stored in stainless steel containers until bottling.
The fruity aromas of Banfi Centine Toscana Chardonnay Vermentino
And those who are patient will be rewarded. A straw-yellow wine sparkles in the glass. The aromas are intense and very fruity. Plenty of tropical fruit with pear, apricot, lemongrass, and tomatoes. The palate is deliciously juicy and slightly spicy. Beautifully balanced with the acidity, which carries through to a soft and harmonious finish.
