The renowned Batasiolo winery presses two different Barberas: Sabri and this Sovrana. This Italian red wine from Piedmont may not be as well-known as its "big brothers" Barolo and Barbaresco, but it's definitely worth a try! This Sovrana is made from Barbera grapes grown in vineyards in the classified Alba region.

The Beni Di Batasiolo wineries

The "Beni di Batasiolo" wineries, owned by the Dogliani family, are among the largest in the Langhe region, managing approximately 107 hectares across nine farms in La Morra, Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo, and Monforte d'Alba. The Dogliani brothers decided to combine these properties under the name "Beni di Batasiolo," taking its name from the heart of the winery, "Batasiolo." Batasiolo is known for its superb red wines and produces the region's most prestigious wines, such as Barolo, Barbaresco, Barber a d'Alba Sovrana, and Dolcetto d'Alba Bricco di Vergne. They also produce delicious white wines, such as Gavi, from the Gavi community. After manual harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed. Fermentation then follows at a controlled temperature between 22 and 26 degrees Celsius for 7-10 days in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged 50 percent in French barriques and 50 percent in Slavonian oak tanks for twelve months.

The mature character of this Batasiolo Barbera D'Alba Doc Sovrana

If you're looking for a fine and aromatic red wine, this Barbera Sovrana is the perfect choice. It's a wine known for its softness and ripe character. The aroma of this Barbera d'Alba DOC reveals raspberry, red currant, cherry, and a light spicy undertone. And it offers even more: flavors of black fruit, beautiful spices, and a hint of vanilla and toast. The wine has a vibrant, medium cherry red color. Thanks to twelve months in barrel, this wine has become wonderfully rounded and has developed delicate toasted aromas. Delicious!
