Bellingham Chenin Blanc, one of our favorites from this fantastic winery. Chenin Blanc is a grape that has become an absolute staple in South Africa, and certainly not at Bellingham. The Chenin Blanc grapes for this white wine are grown in the Paarl region, where the climate is wonderfully warm and therefore ideal for Chenin Blanc.
25 year old vines of Chenin Blanc
The grapes grow on bush vines (untrained vines) that are at least 25 years old and are planted in granite-rich soil. The grapes for this white wine are all harvested by hand to ensure that only the finest grapes are selected. After harvesting, the grapes are pressed whole bunches and fermented in French oak barrels for seven months.
The aroma and taste of the Bellingham Chenin Blanc
The result is a magnificent white wine! The color is an attractive pale gold. The nose is bursting with aromas of tropical fruit, vanilla, melon, peach, and a hint of honey. The taste is a true Chenin Blanc. A wonderful balance between mild fruit notes and pleasant acidity. Beautiful nuances of mango, pineapple, melon, and vanilla. The finish is long, intense, and wonderfully refreshing. This Bellingham Chenin Blanc is highly recommended.
