The Collage Red Blend is a blend of 52 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 32 percent Malbec, 12 percent Petit Verdot, and 4 percent Merlot. All the grape varieties complement each other in the glass, creating an incredibly warm and beautifully rounded red wine. As we've come to expect from Benguela Cove, this is a truly exceptional wine of exceptional quality. The vineyards are worked with great care, and you can certainly smell and taste it.
The potential of Walker Bay
Walker Bay is synonymous with quality. Bordered by the Bot River lagoon overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the vineyards enjoy cool daytime temperatures that drop even further at night. A favorable daytime climate promotes even ripening and complexity, encouraging the development of delicate fruit notes, fine tannin structure, and bright acidity. By utilizing the diversity of slopes, soil types, row direction, cultivars, and clones, the potential of these vineyards is maximized to become a perfect snapshot of a vintage.
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are carefully inspected berry by berry and vinified separately. Each component is tasted separately, ensuring only the best is used in the final blend. This is what makes this Red Blend so unique. After fermentation is complete, the wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels, 45 percent of which are new. After this, they are blended and bottled.
Enjoy the Benguela Cove Collage Red Blend
The Benguela Cove Collage is a highly concentrated red wine cuvée in the classic Bordeaux style. Delightful aromas of plum, marzipan, and licorice. It's a bit heavy at first, but this is beautifully balanced by vibrant notes of violets. Fine tannins provide excellent structure. The acidity is well-balanced, creating a pleasant tension in the wine. The finish is seamless and extremely smooth.
