An impressive wine from Weingut Bischel, sourced from Riesling vineyards in Appenheim and Gau-Algesheim. Tertiary marl and limestone characterize the soils on the south-facing slopes.
Traditional wines from Bischel
The Runkel family has been involved in winegrowing in Rheinhessen for five generations. Their experience, excellent vineyards, and the skills of Christian and Matthias Runkel contribute to the quality of their wines. Today, the Bischel winery, located in Appenheim between Bingen and Mainz, is one of the most interesting and prestigious wineries in Rheinhessen. The company boasts several vineyards in a prime location. In addition to the mountains of Gau-Algesheimer St. Laurenzikapelle, known for their calcareous soil, this also includes the vineyards on the Binger Scharlachberg and the Appenheimer Hundergulden. Here, top-quality vines grow on limestone soils.
Bischel Winery sends approximately 120,000 bottles of excellent wine worldwide each year. The main grape variety for the "Bischel Boys" is Riesling. The estate also produces excellent Silvaner, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Scheurebe, and Sauvignon Blanc. Grey Burgundy and White Burgundy are, of course, also found in the Bischel Winery's vineyards.
Handmade in the vineyard
To ensure the estate's wines retain their distinctive character, the focus is on handcrafting in the vineyards. The grapes are handled with the utmost care to ensure optimal aromatic development. Christian and Matthias Runkel ensure minimal residual sugar in their wines. The exceptionally dry wines from the Bischel winery still impress with their freshness, fruit, and fine bouquet.
This handcrafted wine results in a wonderfully fragrant Riesling with the full aroma of citrus, green apple, and peach. A refreshing, classic Riesling that opens on the palate with delicate, juicy fruit, before the perfect acidity lends it finesse and elegance.
