Borgogno Barbera D'Alba: An Ode to Traditional Vinification
Nestled in the heart of Piedmont, Borgogno is perhaps the oldest winery in the region, founded in 1761. The Barbera grapes are harvested with precision in the second half of September. They undergo careful fermentation for 12 days at controlled low temperatures. After a gentle pressing, 70% matures in stainless steel tanks for 10 months, while the remaining 30% matures in large Slavonian oak barrels for the same period. After blending the two parts, the wine matures in bottle for a further 6 months, preserving its vibrant acidity and spicy nuances.
