Description
One of Castello Banfi's most famous wines, the Brunello di Montalcino, is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, giving it its full, rich flavor. A wine that can age for at least another ten years, but is ready to drink now. It can still develop over time. This Banfi gem is praised year after year by international wine testers. Well, I have to tell you, after tasting this wine, we were also in heaven.
A long maturation for Banfi Brunello di Montalcino
The DOC Brunello di Montalcino was only established in 1980. But quality development occurred so rapidly that Brunello was the first region to acquire the new quality designation "DOCG," Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita, a few years ago. This is the highest recognition for a wine region in Italy. For this wine, Banfi opted for microvinification; this means that the grapes from the various vineyards are vinified separately. After aging for thirty months in large barrels, the blend is assembled and matured for a further six months in the bottle. The legal minimum age for a Brunello is twenty-four months. This wine, made from grapes from Banfi's historic vineyards, is a wonderful example of a great Brunello, a powerful and classic wine of the region, full-bodied and complex, with exceptionally good tannins. What does Banfi Brunello di Montalcino taste like?
A wonderful aroma with wood, cherry, vanilla, and a hint of spice and earthiness. The taste is also stunning; the long oak aging has developed this wine into a full-bodied wine with the rich flavor notes of a truly fine Brunello di Montalcino. The finish of this Banfi Brunello di Montalcino boasts beautiful earthy notes with an elegant and lingering flavor. A delicious pairing with game, red meat, grilled meats, and stews.Product details
