The port house Cálem Porto was founded in 1859 by António Alves Cálem. Since its inception, it has invested considerable time and energy in producing high-quality port wines at very reasonable prices. This has resulted in high market recognition and several international awards. Calem Porto is the market leader in Portugal. There isn't a single store in Portugal that sells drinks without Calem in its product range. The familiar look of the bottles is also recognizable worldwide. We were therefore quite surprised to see the labels gradually getting a new look. But, once again, these beautiful bottles are perfectly recognizable!

This Ruby Port is the youngest and sweetest port from the Porto house Calem. Calem Ruby achieves this sweetness because the grapes are only picked when they are fully ripe. All the grapes are fully saturated with all the natural sugars they can produce. The harvest is entirely hand-picked into small crates to prevent damage to the grapes on the way to the press and ensures strict selection of the fruit. After vinification, the port is aged for three years in both wooden and stainless steel barrels. This combination of wooden and stainless steel barrels gives this Ruby Port its refined and full flavor.

The moment has arrived: we can now taste the Calem Porto Ruby! As soon as you pour this Calem port, you'll see a beautiful, inviting ruby-red color. As we dip our noses into the glass, we encounter hints of fresh red fruit, light currants, violets, and notes of pomegranate. The flavor is typically Ruby, soft and full-bodied with plenty of ripe red fruit like cherries and wild strawberries. The finish is smooth and wonderfully thick. A superb port offering excellent value for money.
