2015 was a very good vintage year, and Calem is secretly quite proud of it. Port house Cálem Porto was founded in 1859 by António Alves Cálem. Since its inception, it has invested considerable time and energy in producing high-quality Port wines at very reasonable prices. This has resulted in high market recognition and several international awards. Calem Porto is the market leader in Portugal. There isn't a single store in Portugal that sells drinks without Calem in its product range. The familiar look of the bottles is also recognizable worldwide. We were therefore quite surprised that the labels were gradually getting a new look. But once again, the recognizability of these beautiful bottles is optimal!

2015, one of the best Port years ever!

We're often asked why a Vintage Port is so different from other ports. For starters, the grapes for a Vintage Port come from a single, exceptional harvest year. On average, a Vintage Port can only be produced once every three years. The grapes used for a Vintage Port undergo a rigorous, hand-selected process. Only the finest grapes are considered for this exceptional port. Unlike other ports, all Vintage Ports, including this Calem Vintage 2015, are bottle-aged. This bottle-aging can continue for decades. This is because the port is bottled unfiltered. This does, however, create lees at the bottom of the bottle, sometimes making the port appear somewhat cloudy. Therefore, if you plan to serve a Vintage Port, it's advisable to store it upright a day beforehand or decant it shortly before serving.
