Cantine Paradiso's royal wine, this Primitivo 1954! It's a tribute to the year Cantine Paradiso founded his winery, 1954. Grandfather Angelo began his dream of making the finest wine in Southern Italy. It proved to be a long and beautiful dream, as almost seventy years later, his children and grandchildren are still making the family's wines. They still carry on Angelo's legacy. With great respect for the beautiful natural surroundings, using traditional production techniques, and with a great deal of courage and daring, they cultivate the grapes for this top-notch Primitivo 1954 Puglia.

The old Primitivo vineyard of Cantine Paradiso

The fine wine from this beautiful Italian winery is made with the very best Primitivo bunches. The oldest and finest vines bear the powerful Primitivo bunches. However, this doesn't happen automatically; extensive pruning is required, resulting in a very low yield. The harvest, which will be harvested by hand, is of phenomenal quality. Harvesting takes place around mid-August when the grapes are fully ripe and rich in aromatics. The wine obtained after pressing must age for another two months in steel tanks and then for 12 months in French wooden barriques. After this period, this Primitivo 1954 will be bottle-aged for another four months in the cellars of Cantine Paradiso.

Full and very powerful this Paradiso Primitivo 1954 Puglia

This red Paradiso Primitivo 1954 is a gem—that's the best way to describe it. A unique wine with incredible power, and even more so for this price range. Thanks to its long aging in oak barrels and the use of very old vines, we immediately smell a powerful aroma upon opening the bottle. We noted aromas of dark black fruit, vanilla, and subtle sweet spices like cinnamon. Pouring it into the glass, we knew for sure: a gem, because this red wine has a beautiful dark color. Nosing the glass, we smelled a wealth of impressions, including nuances of plums, berries, spices, and a touch of chocolate. The palate is full on the palate with soft flavors of black fruit, vanilla, coffee grounds, and a touch of dark chocolate. A beautiful, smooth finish completes our experience—what a gem from Puglia.
