This family winery has existed for almost a hundred years and was founded in 1932 by the Añadas family. Mr. Añadas purchased a beautiful piece of land in the Spanish region of Aragon when he founded the winery. The name Care is derived from the Romans, who used to call Cariñena Care. Over the years, Bodega Añadas has invested heavily in modern techniques to further enhance its winemaking, without sacrificing its traditions and craftsmanship. For Mr. Añadas, winemaking is an art, and that's why he chooses to depict a work of art on every label. Enrique Torrijos, a renowned artist, has created a new label for each wine that will delight the senses.
The best red wine from Care
For this red wine, absolutely everything is done. The Garnacha grapes come from an eighty-year-old vineyard in Finca Bancales. While this vineyard doesn't yield much these days, the bunches that are ready to be harvested are truly the very best. The climate in the vineyard is perfect for Garnacha grapes. Plenty of sunshine contributes to a ripe harvest, which is naturally slowed by the fresh breeze blowing through the vineyards. The falling nighttime temperatures also cool the Garnacha grapes. Once ripe, they are harvested entirely by hand, and only the finest bunches are selected for this Care red wine.
Wood aging for the Care Finca Bancales Garnacha
Once the wine is pressed, it awaits a very long aging process, namely fourteen months in barrels no older than three years. During this crucial period, this red wine develops strength and finesse, and the oak barrel imparts its influence. After aging, the bottles are filled and stored in the cellars of Bodega Añadas. The entire aging process takes a full seventeen months, allowing the wine to fully mature. Only when the quality is absolutely top-notch and approved by Care's winemaker are the bottles sold. There aren't many, but fortunately, we're fortunate enough to buy a few bottles of Care's top-notch wine each year. We can't wait to open the bottle; as soon as the cork is popped, we smell the powerful aroma of a top-notch wine. This aroma is imparted as we pour, revealing a beautiful dark color with purple glints. Nosing the glass, we noted lovely hints of herbs, black fruit, a touch of balsamic, and especially oak. Take this wine in your mouth and it will enchant you, with abundant rich notes of black fruit, a lovely spice, natural vanilla and woody notes, as well as some nuts and raisins. The finish is long and robust—what a fantastic wine!
