The Chardonnay grapes for this Reserva wine are also found on one of the del Pedragal family's oldest estates. Thanks to the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean, the grapes enjoy a cooling breeze, which the Chardonnay truly needs in addition to the warm temperatures. This allows this white wine to develop strong, tropical fruit aromas. The sandy and loamy soil structure creates a unique white wine you won't soon forget.
Quality wines from the family business Carta Vieja
Carta Vieja is located some 300 kilometers south of Santiago de Chile in the heart of the Maule region. It is owned by the Del Pedregal family in its seventh generation and is one of the oldest in Chile. The vineyards cover 550 hectares in the Valle del Maule, where they plant a wide variety of grape varieties. Within the range, there are three distinct lines: Varietals, Reserva, and Gran Reserva. Millions of bottles are produced annually for us to enjoy worldwide.
The Chardonnay grapes are harvested in early April. They are then taken directly to the winery for a rigorous selection process. Only the very best are good enough. This is followed by an eight-hour cold maceration. Fermentation follows at a temperature between 12 and 18 degrees Celsius. Finally, the wine is aged for eight months in French oak barrels.
The fruity notes of Carta Vieja Chardonnay Reserva
But the long wait is rewarded with a bright yellow-colored white wine. The aromas reveal white peaches, banana, lychee, and a delicate lemon note. This blends seamlessly with the aromas of roasted hazelnut and vanilla. The palate is broad with a good acidity that enhances the fruit's presence. An elegant white wine that pairs perfectly with a delicious fish dish.
