Champagne Boizel Grand Vintage 2015, France
Champagne Boizel Grand Vintage 2015 is a millésimé Champagne from Épernay, made from 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay. For this cuvée, Boizel selects only grapes with sufficient finesse and aging potential, after which the wine ages for 8 years on its lees in the house's cellars. The 2015 vintage shows a powerful yet refined style, with ripe white fruit, brioche, toasted hazelnut, and a dry dosage of 4 g/l.
Vineyards and Region
Grand Vintage 2015 comes from Champagne, with grapes sourced from carefully selected villages for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
• Location / Origin: Boizel is located on the Avenue de Champagne in Épernay, one of Champagne's historic centers. For Grand Vintage, the focus is on selecting grapes from villages that, in this vintage, offered the right balance of ripeness, freshness, and finesse.
• Pinot Noir Origin: The Pinot Noir primarily comes from Mailly, Ambonnay, and Cumières. These villages give the cuvée structure, depth, and the powerful foundation expected from a serious vintage Champagne.
• Chardonnay Origin: The Chardonnay comes from Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Chouilly. These villages bring elegance, freshness, and refined mineral tension to the blend.
• Vintage Selection: Grand Vintage is only produced when the harvest possesses sufficient character, finesse, and aging potential. Consequently, this cuvée is not a fixed house blend but an interpretation of one specific vintage.
Grape Composition
Champagne Boizel Grand Vintage 2015 is made from 2 classic grape varieties from Champagne.
• 55% Pinot Noir – Champagne: Pinot Noir forms the powerful core of this cuvée, providing structure, body, ripe fruit, and vinousity.
• 45% Chardonnay – Champagne: Chardonnay brings freshness, floral refinement, and mineral length, elegantly balancing the ripe power of Pinot Noir.
Vinification and Aging
The strength of Grand Vintage 2015 lies in the selection of grapes and the long aging in the cellar.
• Assemblage: The blend consists of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay. By giving Pinot Noir the leading role, the Champagne gains power and depth, while Chardonnay provides freshness and precision.
• Aging: The Champagne ages for 8 years on its lees. This long aging on fine yeast cells provides extra texture, a refined mousse, and aromas of brioche, toasted hazelnut, and toast.
• Dosage: With a dosage of 4 g/l, the style remains dry and crisp. This low dosage complements the ripeness of 2015 and allows the mineral freshness and fruit to shine through clearly.
Tasting Notes and Serving Suggestions
In the glass, Grand Vintage 2015 is clear golden in color, with fine, persistent bubbles. The aroma is complex and expressive, with white peach, pear, white flowers, hawthorn, brioche, and toasted hazelnut. The taste is creamy and vibrant simultaneously, with apricot, mango, honey, toast, subtle minerality, and a long fresh finish.
• Serving Temperature: Serve this Champagne at 10–12 °C, so that the ripe fruit tones, fine mousse, and brioche-like depth blend beautifully.
• Dishes: Excellent as a luxurious aperitif and strong with seafood, shellfish, white fish, poultry, and refined dishes with creamy sauces.
Awards
• Gold, The Champagne Masters 2026: Awarded gold, with appreciation for the ripe yellow and red fruit notes, smoky toasty aging, fresh acidity, and silky mousse.
• 4.2 stars, Vivino: A strong user rating for this ripe and refined vintage Champagne from Boizel.
