Description

Vecchie Vigne '50' Negroamaro wine was made from grapes grown on 50-year-old vines of the local Negroamaro variety. It is an endemic variety of Apulia, that is, one grown nowhere else in the world. These vines grow in the fertile soils of Terre Rosse, located between Manduria and San Giorgio. It is a perfect location with plenty of sunshine and the right climate for the development of sweet fruit.

Italian modern wines from Cignomoro

CignoMoro Winery is a perfect combination of traditional values and modern winemaking techniques. This is achieved through her work on a 100-year-old vineyard, which her grandfather bequeathed to the brand's current owner, and the open-mindedness of its owner, Ciro Matichecchi. The winery's primary goal is to create truly Italian wines and share them with the rest of the world. CignoMoro cultivates vineyards and produces wines in the Italian region of Apulia, specifically on the Salento Peninsula, where conditions are perfect for growing vines. It combines characteristics such as abundant sun exposure, a warm climate, sea breezes from the two seas surrounding the peninsula, and fertile soil. All this ensures that the grapes ripen sweetly and juicy, producing wines with beautiful varietal characteristics.

Manual harvest for Cignomoro 50 Vecchie Vigne Negroamaro

The grapes are harvested entirely by hand, after which they are destemmed and pressed. Fermentation follows at a controlled temperature, after which the wine ages for 12 months in French oak barrels. Finally, the wine is aged for another 6 months in the bottle. The result is a deep ruby-red wine with an intense and spicy aroma, with plum and blackberry flavors and background notes of natural cocoa, tobacco, leather, and coffee beans. On the palate, it is equally intensely fruity with a thick consistency and pronounced tannins. The finish lingers long.
