The sparkling wine of Cignomoro
The Cignomoro winery has a long history. The estate where the grapes grow was purchased a century ago by the prominent Matichecchi family. For years, they owned the estate and did very little with it. This wasn't surprising, as Puglian wines didn't really have a stable market in the 20th century. When Puglian wines became popular at the beginning of the 20th century, grandson Ciro Matichecchi decided to travel to the sunny south to breathe new life into the winery. The winery was renovated and new vines were planted. Now, more than twenty years later, Cignomoro wines continue to delight many.
Impressions of Cignomoro Pepe Nero Spumante
This Cignomoro Pepe Nero Spumante uses typical Puglian grapes, both Fiano and Verdeca. The very local Bianco d'Alessano also plays a role in this Cignomoro sparkling wine. Together, they create a unique palette that is truly unique.
When the almost iconic champagne cork leaves the bottle, your senses are immediately treated to intense aromas. Not a dull fizz, but a sparkling wine bursting with character. Think bright flowers and fresh tropical fruit. The ultimate purity of citrus bursts from the glass. The mousse, the size of the bubbles, is almost velvety on the tongue. Every sip is guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.
