The aroma is truly beautiful, ripe and round with hints of black fruit, vanilla, licorice, tobacco, and a faint hint of pepper. A complete glass of Rioja, especially at this price, because it's truly outstanding! The palate of this Tempranillo Conde de Valdemar red wine is equally complete, deep and robust with soft, ripe nuances. Thanks to the light oak aging, it has notes of strawberry, herbs, and light oak. What a fantastic glass of Rioja—not too heavy, yet round and full.

Bodega Valdemar, founded in 1889, is still owned by the Bujanda family and run by Jesus Martínez Bujanda and his son Carlos and daughter Ana. For the past three years, Bodegas Valdemar has received the "Critics Choice Award" from Wine Spectator, one of the most prestigious awards given by specialized journalists. Furthermore, the winery's most influential wine critic, Robert Parker, rated the wineries "excellent." That's saying something. This dry red wine from Valdemar is truly one for wine lovers who demand the absolute best with 0.0 grams of residual sugar. The Conde Valdemar Rioja Tempranillo comes very close, having been pressed with only 1.2 grams of residual sugar. The balanced Conde Valdemar Tempranillo Rioja from La Rioja is based on grapes from the Tempranillo grape variety. After harvest, the grapes arrive at the winery as quickly as possible. Here, the grapes are sorted and carefully broken open. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the Conde Valdemar Tempranillo Rioja is left to mature on its fine lees for several months.
