El Coto is a relatively young company, founded in 1970. Since then, this winery has grown into a successful enterprise. Located in Oyon, north of Logroñe, it is an impressive winery due to its scale and efficiency, yet combines this with centuries-old traditions. They have over 700 hectares of their own vineyards spread across seven different locations. This allows them to obtain an optimal diversity of grapes. Everything is meticulously managed, ensuring the highest possible quality grapes are produced under all conditions. El Coto uses 72,000 oak barrels for the vinification process. This is quite unique, and thanks to all their efforts, wines with an exceptionally good price-quality ratio are created. The El Coto Rioja Crianza is even the best-selling Rioja Crianza in all of Spain.

18 months of maturation for El Coto de Rioja Crianza

The grapes are rigorously inspected and selected after harvest to ensure only the very best are obtained. The entire process is carried out with strict control of fermentation and maceration temperatures. This ensures a perfect balance between structure and balance in the wines. Finally, the wine is aged for at least 12 months in American oak barrels and at least 6 months in bottle. The result is a modern and smooth Crianza. It glows cherry red in the glass, and the fruit pops. The aromas and flavors of vanilla and fruit form a perfect combination. On the palate, it is silky smooth, powerful, and elegant at the same time. A delicious drinking wine for any occasion and easily paired with a wide variety of dishes.
