The Condesa de Leganza winery was founded by the great Lord Bodegas Faustino in 1999. It was a unique project, as they purchased a very old 550-hectare vineyard in northern La Mancha, near Quintanar de la Orden. This was the place where the grapes were to grow and meet the quality standards Bodegas Faustino expects for its wines. And they more than succeeded. Thanks to the careful care of the vineyards and modern winemaking techniques, Condesa de Leganza has become a true hero of La Mancha.
The old vineyard of Condesa de Leganza
The vineyards are known throughout the region because they belonged to the Countess of Leganza. But Bodegas Faustino reaped even more after purchasing them. They replanted unusable vines and discovered that the soil structure was so good that harvesting was possible again soon. The right mix of young and old vines proved successful, and we often wondered how this could be achieved at such a price. Today, Condesa de Leganza has nearly 600 hectares of vineyards, and they produce, among other things, this delicious rosé.
What does the Condesa de Leganza Rose taste like?
The bottle alone is a feast for the eyes, but it doesn't stop there. Open the bottle, and the nose is filled with fresh red fruit and a swarm of grapefruit. Pouring reveals a bright, light pink color perfectly suited to this time of year. The Condesa de Leganza Rosé boasts aromas of strawberry, cherry, raspberry, and a floral note. The Condesa de Leganza Rosé is full-bodied and pleasantly flavored with abundant fruit and a light spiciness. This rosé is, of course, delicious in the sunshine as an aperitif, but also pairs well with dishes like pizza, fresh salads, pasta, or small tapas dishes.
