The Sauvignon Blanc from the Te Muna vineyard grows in soils with stones and limestone. Te Muna means "the secret" in the Maori language. And it's a secret worth sharing, because what a delicious white wine from Craggy Range.

The philosophy of Craggy Range

Craggy Range was founded around 1997. The philosophy was to select only the best parcels in New Zealand and then plant only grape varieties perfectly suited to the terroir. This made it the first winery in the Southern Hemisphere to adopt this approach. The Te Muna Road Vineyard is located approximately seven kilometers outside the township of Martinborough. The vineyard comprises two distinct terraces; the upper terrace consists of very old, stony, clay-infused soils, perfect for Pinot Noir. The lower terrace of younger stony soils interwoven with limestone provides an excellent environment for Sauvignon Blanc. Martinborough's cooler climate ensures the wine is aromatic with a steely minerality, while the rocky soils enhance the intensity of the fruit. The region's warm, dry summers and mild winters have resulted in complex and structured wines with subtle aromas and an elegant finish. This also applies to this delicious Sauvignon Blanc. It sparkles in the glass with a lemon-yellow color and greenish hues. The grapes are harvested by hand, then carefully pressed and fermented in a stainless steel tank. Finally, the wine is aged on fine lees for a total of four months in used French barriques.

What does Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc taste like?

The delightful bouquet unfolds with aromas of nectarine, green apple, honeysuckle, lime, and nettle. This New Zealand white wine is opulent and complex on the palate. A lively acidity and tropical fruit lead to a long, mineral finish. Enjoy this dry New Zealand white wine with seafood, oysters, grilled vegetables, or grilled sea bream.
