The winemakers at De Toren truly dedicate themselves to their vineyards. They prove that attention makes everything more beautiful. Special vineyards are selected for De Toren The Black Lion. Only the best vineyards, where the climate and terroir are superb, are used for this De Toren red wine. Furthermore, the vines are selected using infrared light. The harvest of the Syrah grapes, the base of this wine, is incredibly strict. On average, only 300 grams of grapes are picked per vine. A remarkably small amount, but of the very best quality. The wine is first aged for 12 months in new oak barrels. After 12 months, the wine is transferred to more new oak barrels, where it ages for another 6 months. This gives De Toren The Black Lion a remarkably complex character.
This isn't a red wine for casual consumption. You have to sit down and enjoy it. Look forward to it, but above all, savor every sip. Because it might be your last. Bottles of The Black Lion are strictly limited. Besides the aromatic aroma and generous flavor, it's also a rarity to have a bottle of The Black Lion in your wine cellar. But when you finally open this red wine, the real celebration can begin. The aroma and flavor are overwhelming. Powerful, robust, and full of character. Plenty of black fruit, but also a complexity of robust spices and powerful herbs. The tannins are present but almost velvety.
