The fruit bursts from the glass when you pour this Viognier. It's a true paradise of aromas and flavors. Owner James Kinglake is convinced that Viognier has incredible potential in the Limoux region. The natural climatic influence of the Pyrenees to the south, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, and the Mediterranean Sea to the east provides a haven for grape varieties that thrive in cooler climates. The Viognier is grown at an altitude of approximately 240 meters on clay and limestone soils.
French wines with elegance
In 2003, British couple James and Catherine Kinglake decided to embark on a new path. And so they purchased the Begude winery. They began with 29 hectares of vineyards where they produce wines with a beautiful expression of the terroir. The wines are notable for their purity and elegance, making their French wines internationally beloved. Besides the well-known Chardonnay from this region, Begude also cultivates Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Vignier, Pinot Noir, Gewürztraminer, and Gruner Veltliner. Thanks in part to the beautiful terroir, they create magnificent wines that are highly appreciated. The winery guarantees this high quality thanks to its deep passion for wine.
The smell and taste of Domaine Begude Le Paradis Viognier
The grapes are harvested by hand at night to preserve all their freshness. This is followed by a rigorous selection in the cellar. The wine then ferments in large, used wooden barrels. It then ages for another three months, allowing it to develop delicate oak notes. An excellent organic Viognier with seductive white peach aromas that combine with notes of apricot on the palate. A hint of spice also contributes to the flavor, but it is above all fresh and fruity, with a touch of power. It pairs well with many oriental dishes or a cheese board.
