The wines of Domaine de Joy
Domaine de Joy has a distinguished history. It's a true family business, where winemaking remains their passion. It all began at the beginning of the 20th century. Originally from Switzerland, the family fell in love with the Armagnac region, famous for its eponymous distillate. They established their own Armagnac vineyard in the hills of the Cotes de Gascogne. This family, the Gessler family, still owns Domaine de Joy to this day.
Meanwhile, the vineyards have largely transitioned to wine production, although 10% of the 170 hectares are still reserved for Armagnac production. The remainder of the acreage, which benefits enormously from the fresh Atlantic breeze, is primarily planted with white grape varieties. Domaine de Joy Enjoy Cotes de Gascogne Blanc uses the finest grapes from the Cotes de Gascogne region. The largest portion, almost half, is reserved for Kolombard. Ugni Blanc and Gros Manseng account for roughly equal shares. The 10% added Sauvignon Blanc provides the characteristic freshness of Domaine de Joy Enjoy Cotes de Gascogne Blanc.
Impressions of Domaine de Joy Enjoy Cotes de Gascogne Blanc
Immediately upon opening the bottle, we are captivated by the striking notes of the Cotes de Gascogne. Light in aroma, color, and flavor, it remains a remarkably pleasant wine. Refreshing fruits like lemon, grapefruit, and lychee elevate the wine to a new, unfamiliar level. A flavor palette more than worthy of the name "Enjoy."
