For years, Domaine du Tariquet has been producing the finest wines in its Côtes de Gascogne region. Founded in 1912, the winery is still run by the third generation of the family. While the family's success stemmed from their distilleries, for the past 25 years they have also been crafting the finest wines from their French vineyards. Today, Domaine du Tariquet is a global player, and its wines are known for their smoothness and finesse.
The old vineyard in Côtes de Gascogne
For this white wine, called the Classic, several grapes are grown in the Côtes de Gascogne. Namely, Gros Manseng, Sauvignon Blanc, Colombard, and Ugni-Blanc complement each other perfectly. But before that happens, we move to the vineyards. These are already mature and yield a full and powerful harvest. But that doesn't happen by chance, says Tariquet; great care has been taken in nurturing the vines, which has now resulted in this white Classic from the Côtes de Gascogne.
The harvest for this white Domaine du Tariquet
Each grape is harvested individually, very early in the morning. This prevents damage to the bunches and prevents oxidation. The grapes arrive in crates and are inspected on sorting tables, because only the finest juice is good enough for the Tariquet family. In the ultra-modern winery, each grape is fermented individually, after which the winemaker creates the blend. A crucial task, as the family reputation must be upheld. However, the wealth of experience ensures consistent quality.
The aroma and taste of the white Domaine du Tariquet Classic wine
The fun begins the moment we open the bottle, as we encounter a vibrant aroma of gooseberries, grapefruit, and freshly cut grass. Pouring reveals a beautiful light color with green highlights. Nosing the glass, we also noted citrus fruit, green bell pepper, and a touch of fresh lime. The palate is wonderfully fresh, a true thirst-quencher with abundant fruit nuances. On the palate, this Domaine du Tariquet Classic has a signature style of a top Côtes de Gascogne, with fresh green herbs like mint and a touch of tropical fruit. What a stunning white wine, unbelievable for the price.
