In the beautiful south of France, specifically in the Côtes Catalanes, we find Domaine Lauriga. It's a true family estate and was owned for many years by the French-Catalan Clar family. Until they sought a successor outside the family, as no one else was available. They contacted Jean-Claude Mas, who was immediately enthusiastic about the vineyards and saw great potential. The family was pleased that the winery is being continued by a top family and adores Jean-Claude Mas. Significant investment has since paid off; the wines from Domaine Lauriga have become fuller, smoother, and richer.
The old vineyard of Domaine Lauriga
The old vineyard, filled with Grenache Gris grapes, has been producing top-notch harvests for years. This is thanks to the sandy vineyards of the Côtes des Catalanes in the south of France. The terroir is characterized by clay, limestone, and abundant gravel. The climate is also perfect for Grenache Gris grapes; warm afternoons and cool nights ensure a fresh harvest. The grapes are cultivated with great love and dedication, and the vineyard is truly magnificent. All the grapes are harvested by hand and then quickly pressed to achieve the beautiful, light color.
What does Domaine Lauriga Rose Le Gris taste like?
Anyone who didn't know better would think this top wine hails from Provence, but it actually originates from the Côtes Catalanes. The aroma offers a beautiful bouquet of red fruit, grapefruit, a touch of mint, and some red flowers. This very pleasant aroma continues on the palate, fresh on the palate with plenty of fruit like strawberry, raspberry, and berries. But the finish also offers lovely hints of grapefruit, lychee, and a touch of peach. What a gem for this price point! We know what we'll be drinking in the sunshine.
