The Meursault "Narvaux" from Domaine Michelot is a refined white wine that embodies the essence of the Meursault terroir. Made from 100% Chardonnay, this wine offers a harmonious balance between richness and minerality.
About the Domain
Domaine Michelot has been in the Michelot family for six generations and covers over 19 hectares, including prestigious Premier Cru vineyards. The estate strives for minimal intervention in the vineyard, focusing on maintaining soil health through careful plowing and limiting chemical treatments. Harvesting is carried out by hand to ensure the highest quality grapes.
Vineyard and Terroir
The "Narvaux" plot is located on the higher terraces of Meursault, bordering the Premier Cru "Genevrières." Its south-facing exposure and a constant 20% slope ensure excellent ventilation, resulting in a ripe and healthy harvest. The soil consists of limestone, clay, and rock, and the vines range in age from 40 to 70 years.
Vinification
After manual harvest, the grape bunches are lightly crushed and subjected to 6-12 hours of cold maceration. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in wooden barrels, followed by 100% malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for 10-12 months in oak barriques, 15% of which are new, followed by a further 5-6 months "sur lie" to ensure perfect balance.
Tasting notes
On the nose, this Meursault offers aromas of orange and other candied citrus fruits. The palate reveals a rich and creamy character with a long, lingering finish, similar to the Meursault 1er Cru "Genevrières," but with a more pronounced minerality.
Serving Temperature and Gastronomic Combinations
Serve this wine at a temperature of 12-14°C. The Meursault "Narvaux" pairs perfectly with white meat, poultry, foie gras, and cheeses, especially Mont d'Or.
