Another gem from the beautiful Italian island of Sicily. Donnafugata Bell'Assai is the latest addition to this phenomenal wine family. This Sicilian winery has developed a genuine fan base in the wine world in recent years. Sicilian wines are a hot commodity. And Donnafugata's wines demonstrate that excellent quality doesn't have to be expensive. We're thrilled and can't wait to share our enthusiasm for this Italian gem.
The harvest of the Donnafugata Bell'Assai
The newest addition to the range is the Donnafugata Bell'Assai. This red wine is made from the Frappato grape, a grape primarily found in Sicily. Its characteristic aromatic character is evident. The vineyards for this top-quality wine are located in the southeast of Sicily at an altitude of approximately 150 meters. The grapes are harvested late, by Sicilian standards, in mid-September. This allows the grapes to ripen further, which you can taste in the sublime quality of Donnafugata Bell'Assai. The grapes undergo manual harvesting and strict selection before being pressed.
The aroma and taste of the red Bell'Assai wine
The Frappato is a relatively unknown grape, usually only found in blends. This made us even more curious when we were given the opportunity to taste this Sicilian gem. Pour the Donnafugata Bell'Assai and you'll be sold. A ruby-red wine with floral aromas of violets and roses. Ripe cherries are also clearly discernible in the aroma. Take one sip and you'll be hooked. A flavor explosion unfolds in your mouth: cherries, strawberries, and raspberries. A well-balanced wine you won't want to get enough of. We're thrilled by the combination of the expressive fruit and the freshness of the wine. The finish of this top-notch Donnafugata is grand and captivating, seemingly lingering. Donnafugata Bell'Assai is a keeper, in our opinion.
